Location-based mobile advertising network xAd has revealed a partnership with wireless operator Verizon Wireless where xAd’s advertising will now be displayed on VZ Navigator, the turn-by-turn GPS navigation system powered by TCS.
VZ Navigator is also featuring adverts from yp.com in local search results. While VZ Navigator remains a paid service, the wireless operator is looking after new sources of revenue to face the free navigation offerings from Google today and - soon - from Apple.
xAd delivered nearly 2 billion locally targeted search and display ads across mobile sites and applications in the first quarter of 2012. The location-aware advertising network has been partnering with TCS rival, turn-by-turn GPS navigation supplier TeleNav for a couple of years.
