Magellan Launches GPS Handheld Packages for Recreational Boaters, Anglers

GPS maker Magellan this week introduced three new vertical packages of its eXplorist outdoor GPS devices trageting recreational boaters and anglers.

Available in August, the Magellan eXplorist 510 Marine Edition costs $480,
the Magellan eXplorist 510 Pro Angler Edition retails $450, and the price of the Magellan eXplorist 310 Angler Edition is $200.

the eXplorist 510 Marine Edition includes a Magellan eXplorist 510 outdoor handheld GPS and content from Navionics for 12,000 U.S. lakes and U.S. coastal coverage up to two miles offshore, with data on 5-foot contours, tides, currents, wrecks, port plans, marsh areas, and marine services. All the data is preloaded on a memory card.

The Magellan eXplorist 510 Pro Angler Edition includes Fishing Hot Spots’ Pro, a preloaded suite of approximately 4,000 U.S. lakes with detailed shorelines and depth contours.

The eXplorist 510 GPS includes a built-in camera, microphone and a 3-inch color touchscreen.

For the fisherman who only needs maps of specific lakes, the Magellan eXplorist 310 Angler Edition includes a Magellan eXplorist 310 and a choice of three lakes from Fishing Hot Spots’ database that can be downloaded from Magellan’s website for free. The eXplorist 310 GPS embeds a 2.2-inch color screen.
