GPS maker Magellan, a susbsidiary of the Mitac Group, today announced the availability of Magellan Active, a website designed for sport enthusiasts to upload and track their fitness activities on the web.
Magellan also announces the availability of its new Switch ($230) and Switch Up ($300) GPS watches (unveiled at the CES trade show in January 2012) for athletes to record their performance data and then directly upload the information to Magellan Active.
Magellan Active includes the usual social features to post their activities to Facebook and Twitter. Users can also export performance data using file formats such as FIT, CSV, GPX and KML.
Magellan Active also has an API ( active.magellangps.com/developer ) which allows third-party websites and applications to access activity data with customer permission.
